Lets hope its faster than the turd that is the current range of things. about a 200ms delay between press and action on the current range. Makes using them feel like a bogged down underspecced PC despite all the cores and gigs they brag about.

mine is 1 sec. at least. and turns on over the time i make coffee. turn off is immediate however.

Im talking about the delays in moving around in menus etc. You press a button and nothing happens so you press it again since it is IR and you never know if it was aimed right or jammed by something else, then it happens twice because of lag.

The top of the line TV's are less laggy, to be fair.
However, the Samsung 'Smart' interface is pretty dated.
I wonder how many of the 'big' apps they'll launch with?
TVNZ on Demand? TV3 on Demand? Plex etc...
If the key apps aren't there, another manufacturer will surely step up.

my 2013 dual cores are great, plex and netflix navigation is completely fine. more speed would be better of course, but i have no issues currently.

personally i would prefer a tv with stock android tv, hopefully some come out next year.

reports say LG is staying with web-os, i think silly move

A lot of the laggy TVs and Players seem to be java apps running on some unknown O/S. Android or Tizen seems all good to me. Personally I think Sony should be extending their Orbis OS as far across their products lines as they can.

A TV will never have a zillion apps like a hand held device so Samsung using Tizen should be okay. It is a lighter OS than Android so shouldn't it run faster? Particularly if optimized for a particular set of hardware? As long as the support is there with regular firmware updates, even to this little corner of the world it will be sufficient. Tizen to me seems to be Samsung's own attempt at Apple's walled garden to have total control over their product. That's great but it must have ongoing support.

If my Samsung Note 8 is anything to go by I don't have much faith. It is still on 4.2.2 despite other parts of the world already receiving KitKat many months ago. Perhaps it would not be so bad if there was a new model released but there isn't. That makes me skeptical that 2015 TVs will be updated with new features into the future. I recognize that it is Android but doesn't that mean some of the heavy lifting for an update has already been done by someone else?
