Hi Customers

I am giving you all a heads up before Monday 2nd March 2015 so you all know what’s happening;

In the early hours of Monday 2nd March, the distribution system for Freeview Listings will be upgraded, the technical term is called the “Huffman Compression”
where it will reduce the data required to transmit programme information optimizing and improving how programme information is made available to viewers.

In the near future, this will also allow broadcasters to provide richer programme information, such as programme images, for their shows and movies.

For some Dish TV T1050PVR and MAGIC TV MTV3600TD customers your unit may display scrambled data.

MAGIC TV MTV3600TD

MAGIC TV has a firmware update available for download from their website.  Affected users should:

  1. Click here to open the MAGIC TV SUPPORT PAGE
  2. Click on the Downloads tab (middle of the page)
  3. Download the MTV3600TD Firmware update 6.08NZbeta to a USB stick / drive (third section from the top)
  4. Connect the USB to their MAGIC TV MTV3600TD USB port
  5. Install the firmware update by following instructions onscreen or refer to the Owner's Guide that came with your MAGIC TV MTV3600TD.

Lost your Owner's Guide?  Click here to download it (File Size: 6MB).

The compression system update will not affect the MAGIC TV MTV3700TD.
If you need additional assistance, please contact MAGIC TV:

DISH TV T1050PVR

We have released a system software update (SSU) which has been broadcast over the air continuously over the past 2 weeks.

Dish TV T1050PVR users who have left their recorder on stand-by should already have the updated software installed, and will not see any scrambled data;

Those who have not updated can:

A:  Leave their DISH TV T1050PVR on standby overnight so it can receive and install the over the air update automatically.
 NOTE:  This method is valid until THURSDAY 5 MARCH, after which a different software update will be switched on, so please refer to option B.

OR

B:  Click here to go to the DISH TV PRODUCT SUPPORT PAGE to download the firmware update and install it manually via USB (similar to instructions for MAGIC TV).

If you need assistance, please comment on this thread and we will be able to help you out.

Thanks Joshua

The first link does not take you to the Magic TV Support page.  It takes you to the User Guide, and you cannot download anything from there.
Also, I am very surprised that you are recommending 6.08beta, given the problems that have been experienced and reported on this forum in the thread regarding Missing Program Name, and also in the Freeview forum.  Despite the various versions that are available for download, problems have been reported in all of them (3.19, 3.20, 3.21, 6.08 and 6.08b).

Ssshh, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

The change seems to have upset some series links in my Panasonic. Some still work OK, some went to +1 channel and some just came up with "No Data". Resetting them has fixed it.

Hi wigwam3

I have updated the links, the instructions were directly from the Freeview Forum so have just managed to update now.

Thanks Biggles

Have you flicked an email through to Panasonic NZ so they are aware?

Cheers

Shouldn't be necessary as it's all OK now. Was just a glitch in the system due to the changes upsetting my programming.
Happens occasionally when other changes are made, like back to back series and missing a weeks episode. Just have to check the series link programming occasionally.
