Is anybody able to confirm the size of dish required to reliably receive C band signals from Intelsat 19's Western hemisphere beam?

https://www.satbeams.com/footprints?beam=7020

click on where you live on the map and it gives you an indication on what dish size you need

also cant hurt to go one size bigger to ensure you have reception

Thanks. :)

Looks like 2.9m for most of NZ. That's unfortunate.

Various sources on the net are saying PowerVu has been cracked. I'm interested to know if it is practical to receive Discovery, Animal Planet etc.

Most of the online calculators for dish size are for establishing a stable picture in poor weather with a bad LNB. If you have a better setup you may be able to tune in with a smaller dish.

Are those figures for solid dishes (as opposed to net dishes)? ...because 2.9m is quite different to the required size indicated at that link.

Does anybody actually have a dish that enables them to receive that beam?

The difference between solid and mesh is small for C band. The figure I remember is a 10% greater surface area for mesh for the same performance. A quality LNB makes a bigger difference from what I've read.

At 60cm it'll be their Ku band beam.

2.4m solid or 3m mesh will get some tps like 4060H for NHK ( SD ). Having a good high gain LNB also makes a difference.
I have read that the HD channels are harder to loch on to.
