Ok so after a month of waiting and comedy of errors I have my shiny new 4k Samsung TV.

I have everything working, Netflix through Unotelly, TV on demand apps etc but how do I get Freeview plus? The Samsung site says my telly is compatible but I must be missing something.

Anyone got it to work on a new Samsung?

I don't have one.....but I assume your tv knows it's in NZ? The TV Ondemand apps are the local ones?

If the tv thinks it's elsewhere there I would suspect that as the reason freeview plus does not work.

yep set to NZ, I can see only the New Zealand apps. Only set it up last night so I'm still finding my way around. I'm wondering if it just needs a software update

You may need to check for a firmware update online, most TV's have been in their box for 6 months!

My understanding is that Samsung have yet have finish and release firmware that has been tested with NZ's Freeview Plus. I think they will start offering it sometime in the weeks ahead...

As per all TV's we are told by company reps for all tv brands that Freeview Plus will indeed work on all mid 2015 smart TV's. Due to the nature of Freeview Plus at the time of manufacture the Freeview Plus platform was yet to be signed off and a final standard agreed on by manufacturers and Freeview NZ. The Final standard has only just been confirmed prior to Freeview plus launch in NZ which the TV manufacturers are releasing a software update to enable this service any queries on when this will be available should be directed at the manufacturer of your TV.

Its not the same at all, by that logic I could say my old analogue TV is free view plus ready, it just doesn't have a decoder in the box! which I guess is exactly the problem with the brand new Samsung

The problem is the TV supports Freeview plus but the final sign off on the standard happened not that long ago that manufacturers have to scramble to change the tvs firmware to allow for the service to run. And remember also that this is NZ Samsung make TV's for the whole world and the Freeview plus setup is actually pretty unique.

I understand that some idiot in marketing decided to launch a product without giving the engineers enough lead time to have the standard sorted out well in advance. I accept that this is the case.

What I am saying is: Stop telling everyone that all the devices are ready when they are not.

When I go to the Samsung website there is no mention of freeview plus...probably because they aren't stupid enough to advertise their TVs are freeview plus ready when they are not.

Just because freeview want to "create buzz" and show everyone that lots of devices work with the new product is no excuse for making stuff up.

The standard is exactlythesameas the Australian one which has been around for a while now.
Other tvs have free view plus working fine, including my2014 LG tv (albeit with a region change to Australia)

So it's more likely Samsung just couldn't get their act together in time. It's actually quite surprising since they normally are at the forefront of device compatibility, funding app development et
