Hi all,

After upgrading to the latest firmware (to fix the missing/corrupt programme names for recordings), my MagicTV 3600 has got really annoying to use for playback. Every few minutes the picture will break up and it will get stuck trying to play a segment. Skipping past it usually works but we miss some sections.

Reception seems to be good generally, never notice any problem watching live TV.

I'm fairly sure it wasn't doing this before the firmware upgrade, not 100%.

Could it be the hard drive on the way out? Would formatting help?

(It also hangs and has to be switched off sometimes, but that's only maybe once per week).

These are symptoms of the v3.21 'fix' for the auto rebooting issue detailed in the thread on the last few pages. After 4-5 days, the unit becomes virtually unusable due to the memory issues. I found the pixelation on a recording seems to be when using the unit to watch another program and fast forwarding, etc -  it just gets too busy to process properly. A reboot fixes it for another 4-5 days. Some people are using a timer to ensure it powers off/on daily to avoid the problem.

On a brighter note, on page 14 of the thread, Wklie posted a beta version of v3.22 firmware which may be worth trying.
