Hi, anyone in Mosgiel area that could help me align a dish ? I have no sat finder and wonder if I'm able to get
Isat 19. It's on the ground so easy access. Will pay petrol or a few beers! Please PM.

there are apps you can get for you phone which can help you find satellites

also use this site http://www.dishpointer.com/

throw your address in choose the sat satellite you wish to point at and it shows you the direction you need to point it. pick a landmark that you can see thats in the line to the satellite, and that will give you the general direction.

Thanks, they look really interesting but I'd be better with someone who knows what they're doing !
Last time there was a gadget that would receive and display the signal. That confirmed there was something
definite to tune for on the receiver. (Part 2 of the battle!).

It's actually both but the Ku band appears to be for Oz only.

No, the KU band from intelsat 19 serves NZ and Australia (previously intelsat 8) at that location only served Australia on the KU band (up until its last few years when they moved a steerable beam over New Zealand as a spot beam)

Ku band from Intelsat at 166E gives a good signal to New Zealand, with a few good fta such as Euronews , RT and France24, and Arirang
