It's still 75Ohm impedance cables as standard (even for freeview), but the type of cable can be the flat type which seperates the 2 wires by about 1cm, or the cable in cable double insulated type which is really common now. Of course there are higher standards for freeview and the only passive approach (bang an antenna up) has given way to required powered inline amplifiers (I am in the shadow of Mt KauKau and can barely get freeview)
Remember there's no analog tv left in NZ, it's all digital now.... I expect it's only am/fm radio that's analogue now....
nah i mean the stuff that replaced the ribbon, i thought rg6 was 75 ohm aswell, and yea ik analog is gone, i want it for freeview hd because rg6 is too stiff and costs more i sspect.
If you really want thin you could use RG-179, as long as the antenna is fairly close. You terminate it with BNC connectors and then put BNC to F adaptors on it.
Don't bother with 300 ohm ribbon type flat cable if you can even still find it anywhere. It will work about as good as a piece of string.
You really want RG6, if you need a flat cable to put it through a window gap etc , you use to be able to get an adapter which had a short flat section with F connectors on each end.
