Hey Everyone...

I've got a DVD recorder, Panasonic XW390 which I've had for a couple of years now...

Is it just me or is this thing an absolute dog?

It's always been a sod - you cannot for example record something from TV3 and then choose something else from TV3+1 as it overlaps one to the other and can't handle it - it occasionally misses recording stuff and now, more recently is missing more than it records... or it records 30 seconds worth and gives up...

I'm wondering what on earth to do next... Do I muck around with it and try to resolve the problem, do I cut my losses and get something else and if so, what - Do the newer Panasonic devices have these dreadful issues?

Anyone else had these issues - and did you resolve them?

I can answer that !

We had an XW380 and it drove us up the wall, mainly with missed recordings and the +1 debacle,

I complained bitterly and extensively to Panasonic and to their credit, they replaced the unit.

So far it is 100% better.

Ask for their Service manager.

Surely such behavior relates totally to the firmware. I would be asking Panasonic  for the latest firmware.

I've got a Panasonic BWT720 and never had those problems. If I ever run into problems with overlaps I just use Timer Record. Problem solved. Any files I want to keep I transfer to my PC so I can split them and edit out the ads.
