It creates a fresh space for New Zealand’s only full Māori immersion channel – and places it much closer to Māori Television (on Freeview channel 5), said the channel’s owner, Māori Television.
“The move will provide much easier access for viewers and with it the potential to reach a wider audience,” the broadcaster said.
Paora Maxwell, Chief Executive of Māori Television, said the move will be beneficial to Te Reo’s current and future viewers.
“Te Reo has a loyal audience and we know easier access will be beneficial to them and for other potential viewers,” he said.
