I recently purchased a new Sony 4K TV and I can use FreeviewPlus most of the time but it seems to have an issue with getting past adverts in that the screen goes blank for a minute or so before the ad starts and sometimes the ad never starts and I have to switch the TV off to get out of it.

In general FreeviewPlus just seems a bit flaky, is this standard across all TVs or is my Sony special?

I have the same type of TV and have noticed similar issues. Never had it "get stuck" though. To me it seems like the ad insertion functionality of FreeviewPlus isn't working very well at the moment. It jumps to do an ad about 2 seconds before the natural break in the program, then takes about 20 seconds to load the ad. Then when the ad finishes you get the last 2 seconds of the show before the "fade to black (insert ad here)" happens.

Definitely is clumsy at the moment. And I'm hoping it is a FreeviewPlus "feature" they are aware of and are going to fix, rather than a Sony TV issue.

You will need to specify what app you are using, TVNZ on Demand, 3Now as there is a few issues with 3Now that were reported a few weeks ago.

TVNZ ondemand.

3Now had issues with some programs not playing at all but that seems to be better now.

I definitely recall it happening when viewing TVNZ content, this is when accessing via the "red button" (tv guide), but I'm guessing that is still utilising the TVNZ on demand app.
I will try 3now at some stage to see if it exhibits the same problem.

And then it froze and I had to unplug the TV to get going again.

Bummer, so it may be a Sony TV issue. Will have to look in to it some more....

Now that 3now is on Apple TV hopefully tvnz will follow and I won't need it. Accessing 3now on ATV is a much nicer experience imo

3now resolution looks totally unacceptable to me. I switched off after 30 seconds.

Hi there. I'm experiencing exactly the same with my Sony / Android TV - it routinely hangs / freezes at the second-to-last ad break of most episodes I watch (TVNZ at least, haven't checked TV3).

Are you still having this issue, or found some kind of solution in the meantime?

If of interest, I just posted this on the Freeview forum (just before I found this):

Cheers

I actually no longer use any of the features of the TV. I use a Dish DVR for freeview amd freeviewplus along with apple tv and amazon firetv for apps.

My Sony  goes black instead of playing ads and then resumes with the programme after an amount of time in which I assumed the ads had finished.

Any update on this. Is it freeview plus or just Sony TV's?

Although this isn't my area to be involved in under my company umbrella,  as I am contracted with another company to manage the Freeview Forum I have send these details to a SONY rep and hopefully they come in touch either via return email or another method. Will keep you up to date but watch the Freeview Forum link as mentioned above.

Thanks!
