A bit of background here...
A few weeks ago everything was going fine, then we had a bit of weather bringing on rain fade,
went to watch tv in the morning no signal??? did a re scan and everything was normal.

Now I get no signal scanning finds nothing; however if I do a blind scan all I get is "optus test" @ %76 ?

does it sound like the dish has moved off to the wrong sat? or something else...

I was wandering that but I would expect nothing at all ...

the optus test channel thing has got me stumped....

You're probably picking up D3/C1 at 156 degrees. Two possibilities:

1) Using a Sky dual throat LNB, you have activated 22kHz signal during the rescan, this will selected the alternate (C1/D3) sat.

2) Less likely, but possible you dish has physically moved to the right a few degrees - pretty unlikely, would have to be a good wind and a fairly loose mounting.

As for the original rain fade issue, this could be the dish moving out of alignment, but by far the most common reason is the LNB is end of life.

A bit more info for anyone that might be able to work this out

I checked the 22khz tone was off and did another blind scan
managed to pick up what looked to be a channel 7(?) feed @ 12634Mhz H

but nothing else

Could this be something as simple as a bad connection? Maybe due to moisture getting into the antenna input on the lnb or switch.

it goes on/off air when it's not been used and also changes name...

currently called "ATN 7news 3"

That's V polarity, not H. It is on Optus D1 though, so the dish is pointing the right way. Either your receiver is set to output 14v (vertical) rather than 14/18v (V/H), or the LNB is stuffed and won't switch to horizontal polarity.

You don't have a splitter with a different sat receiver powering the LNB do you?

no splitter etc other than the one in the LNB

guessing that is the block you are referring to however nothing seems to match??

It is possible that the receiver is going bad and not outputting the 18v needed for horizontal, but this would be pretty uncommon.
