I've tried to search for this subject but can't find anything (need a more unique set of keywords!).

Is there a way to connect a Freeview receiver to the TV without physically connecting them? I'd like to move the TV to the opposite end of the room but don't want an aerial lead trailing from one end of the room to the other. Can the two be connected via wiifi, bluetooth, or some other technique (possibly via the in-house network), even if another third box is needed to receive from the Freeview box and connected to the TV physically).

All ideas gratefully received.

Tony

What you need to search for is a wireless TV transmitter or wireless AV sender/receiver, there are quite a few options out there.

Here is a thread from last year.

You could try a 5 GHz video sender. Jaycar should be able to sell you one but likely to be SD analogue however.

Moving the aerial cable would probably be the cheapest and simplest option. Short of that you need a video sender, and if you're got a DVB-T box you'll need a HDMI sender to send HD which will set you back a few hundred dollars.

For a video sender you could try http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1824792

It does HD and 5.1 sound

Thanks to all repliers. Yes, I do have the option of extending the aerial, as I could split it in the roof space and bring it down at the new location. I might even be able to hide it in the wall and will certainly look at that option. However, if I could afford it, this might be a good solution:

And it also has an IR extender for the set top box, which I hadn't thought of. Does anyone have experience with that device?

Thanks again.

Be wary of 2.4Ghz AV senders - microwaves and Wifi get interfered  with, or can interfere with the sender ..
