thought SWMBO was finally getting to grips with this box, and only mentioned Mysky once or twice a day...............BUT today

pressed APPS..

No internet connection reported

check network status "no wifi dongle detected' ?????????

finally did AC reset (power disconnect/reconnect)

S8200 restarted.............detected new software...........downloaded the new software via WiFi (its only connection to the web)

rebooted back to operation...

She now pressed apps again.......no internet !!....network status ....No WiFi dongle error message........

cant even force the unit to scan for wifi availablilty

what is going on Josh?.....isnt about time we had stable software in this unit after all this time?

I know nothing about this honestly! Wait for someone smarter : )

But wifi is such a pain point in many situations + software upgrade...

Can you try ethernet and repeat?

I get the no WIFI Dongle detected message occasionally and it is a massive PIA when it occurs!!!!!!!

I put unit into Standby, then pull the power on it and then press the power button on the unit to make sure it has drained any power on capacitors.

Then I plug the power back in and turn unit on again.

Sometimes it can be a couple of minutes before WiFi has started and connected again - certainly it is not available instantly (in my experience) so some patience is required.

Not sure if mine is the usual experience with WiFi in these units and it is a bloody pain. The WiFi seems to be more of an add-on to the S820 rather than something actually built into it.

Every so often my T2100 does the same thing (and a box appears in the middle of the screen telling me it has no internet connection).

Usually pressing retry fixes it though, so not a major (yet). Happens probably about twice a month at most.
