Ohk. I'm having a hard time getting this thing to work.

First things first. The aerial.

I have a sky dish and an aerial on the roof. Configured like this.

Sky Dish -- Sky Box---Splitter--- TV
                  |                |
Aerial --------                --------Splitter--TV

TV Tuner Card: Happauge HVR-3000
OS: Vista Home Premium 32bit
Codecs: ffd show pack
            PowerDVD 7 OEM 2Chan

Location: Dinsdale Hamilton

I have been able to with winTV pick up the two radio channels on Kordia

Radio NZ Concert
Radio NZ National

No luck getting anything from DVB Viewer at all.

Im thinking its the PowerDVD being an OEM but I'm just confused over the matter atm

The first thing I would do is remove Sky decoder from terrestrial antenna circuit. RF modulator in decoder could be causing all sorts of interference to DVB-T signal.

I personally do not use the RF output from a Sky decoder as it is pure debauchery. Why go to the effort of digital from satellite to decoder then take an RF modulated analog signal as the output - puke - RF banned in my house. Use component leads from decoder to TV.

Spark FibreMAX using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+. UAP, UAP AC Pro, UAP AC Pro Mesh, Apple TV 4, Apple TV 4K, iPad Air 1, iPhone XR, VodaTV Gen 2. If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Im thinking its the PowerDVD being an OEM but I'm just confused over the matter atm

Is the OEM PowerDVD the Ultra version (it will say on the powerdvd main screen when its started, it it is then

What video card are you useing ??

When you open PowerDVD and hit the settings button then pick the video TAB does it say by a tick box

1) Use Hardwear (Nvidia Purevideo)

2) Use Hardwear (AiVVio)  or some thing that effect for the ATI card

3) Use Hardwear and there is a tick box ?? With neither Nvidia or ATI there

If it just says Use Hardwear then it wont work as I have found out ,PowerDVD doesnt know what Video card you are useing so will not use it to hardwear decode the signal (h.264), I had this happen to me as I have a M/B with a ATI onboard chipset (Aivvio) which I then disabled and installed a Nvidia 8500GT (nvidia purevideo) this confused PowerDVD and it gave me the 3rd option i pointed out and did not let the Nvidia card do the decodeing, I had to reinstall the OS (Vista Ultimate), PowerDVD and then it worked.

This is what comes up straight away when I load it up

I'm using a 8800GTX and I do have hardware acceleration enabled.

Rerouted the aerial connections to this

Still the same only being able to pick up the two digital radio channels

Radio NZ National & Concert.

I'm also not able to keep it this way anyway due to others in the household requiring the RF output on the sky decoder to access sky from other tv's that aren't directly next to the box. It would also cut it from my PC.

So seeing as the channels that I can recieve have stayed the same I believe that the problem doesn't lay with the sky decoder but my pc.

The OEM version of PowerDVD has no H.264 support.

fddshow does have h.264 support afaik.

Features of FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder :

- various compression methods:
· MPEG 4 compatible (Xvid, DivX 4, DivX 5) using libavcodec or XviD
· Divx 3 compatible, MSMPEG4v2, MSMPEG4v1
· WMV1/7, WMV2/8
· H263, H263+, H264
· HuffYUV in YV12 colorspace

Another note to make I have a .mkv file that I can play when I enable h.264 support on the codec if I disable it it doesn't play.

It has been and currently is enabled and as shown by enable/disabling it the file was h.264 so the codec is working.

I don't think FDDshow supports hardware decoding though; that is, all the work will still be done by the CPU even if you have a gaphics card with h.264 support.

ffdshow doesn't work anyway or at least its not for me :/

might try doing a fresh install of it later but so far I have found all the channels on DVBViewer now just playing them back is the problem. On saying that I can play the digital radio channels just not the video ones which I believe is due to the codec.

If you have a HVR 3000 card it should have come with cyberlink powercinema, when you install this you get the Cyberlink H264 (PCM45) codec installed on your system and should be able to use that, i am currently using it under media portal and it works fine. I also have the uhf aerial feed going through the sky box and then split to the pc and other tvs and the signal comes out fine .
