Hey just a thought it wouldn't be possible to pick up any Australian freeview channels that are distributed through the Optus D1 satellite.

And if so what and how would you pick it up. I.e. satellite settings

Ahh, sorry but there are none you can get, D1 has spot beams that cover the Australain continent as well as a spot beam just for us here. Nothing that is FTA in Aus is on our spot beam so cannot be picked up with normal sized dishs. Once past that one there is encryption, all FTA channels on satellite are encrypted. Aussie does not have a FTA satellite service like our FreeView (but I am sure they would love one), any satellite feeds are either for the Foxtel/Austar or Optus Aurora service, either way you need to be domicile in Aus to get a card. There are also remote terrestial TX feeds, howver these are not visible here.

Bottom line is no you cannot readily get anything FTA from Aus.
