I have just powered up a new to me  (but old in years) MTV3600. Its running firmware 3.16, and appears to have not been used since 2010 looking at its recorded program history. Only has 5 recorded programs on the hdd. Given the unit was handed to me in original packaging, with all the manuals ect, I suspect its almost unused.

Dish TV dont have a very deep version history of firmware on the support site, so its a bit hard to figure out where the firmware sweet spot is. (if indeed there is one...)

Can anyone here point me a potted history of what firmware versions had which bugs and features?

Latest version have memory leak bug which means you have to hardware switch it off and on once a week.

I actually came here to ask if the memory leak will ever be fixed since it is a software fault, not a hardware one.

Sorry, no idea about support in the future, but is there any particular reason why you ask about this? Is there something I should know before I upgrade?

Apart from the memory leak, (which I can fix with a reboot timer) is there any problem with the latest version? I am guessing it's the fast forward control which is the going to be the compelling reason for upgrading ?

Have a look at this thread.

I love my MTV3600, but it is now starting to have a few problems - getting old and had a lot of use. Ideally, I want to replace it with another MTV3600 but not much chance of that.
