I've come up with a problem with my new DVB-T HTPC. Sometimes the video stream gets it self into a loop of about 1/2 a second of corrupted video. Audio keeps playing.

Occasionally I see video artifacts when watching TV I presume this is just a signal/interference problem, most of the time the stream just keeps playing when it comes across this little faults.

It seems though that if the courruption is bad enough the stream goes in to this loop. If I turn off HW decoding on the cyberlink PDVD8 codec the problem doesn't occur.

I've confirmed this in graphedit. i.e.

TS-Reader(30sec .ts file with a broken section)---->CyberlinkPDVD---->EVR

With HW decoding turned on graphedit plays the stream till it gets to the bad bit then starts looping. Turn off HW decoding and grahpedit will just skip over or drop the bad frames.

I've tried swapping out the the ts reader to no avail.

I also often see artifacts when changing channels.

I've got the 30 second sample (~45MB) is there anywhere I can upload?

I've seen at least one other post with this problem. I expect if you have a next to perfect signal then the problem won't occur.

Any ideas / confirmations / solutions?

I had the same problem - re-cabled my aerial and rebuilt my HTPC with MP RC1 and now its fine, I still get the odd artifact but not enough to cause the looping which in the past had forced me to stop using HD - I only ever got this on TV1 and 2 by the way so I'm pretty sure it is just a signil issue.

Yeah I'm sure it's a signal issue but I the decoder just skip past those bits, the same way it does if HW decoing is not enabled. I'm going to recable my UHF too but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get it good enough.

Yeah, I get the same thing occasionally. Skipping to just after the point where it happens restores the video.
I suspect that the codec and/or player has some problems with error recovery.

And now that I think about it, I don't recall ever getting that problem when running MediaPortal fullscreen. Only in windowed mode.

It seems like it i a signal issue, I was getting that on htpc as well, then got stb and it happens with that as well
