Install powerdvd 7 or 8 ultra, install monogram aac decoder. Go through the installer for media portal and everything should be working.

@samsam You'll only be able to get the digital side of the HVR-2200 working under MediaPortal and certainly go for the RC1 AND latest SVN package as thus far it has proven the most stable.

ok thanks i was only looking to do digital but wanted to have analoug just as an option that is why i got the hvr-2200 instead of the nova-500. By the latest build that is the one with the tvserver built in?

Na don't use the built in TV support, use the TVServer, do the install with RC1 and select single seat installation this will install everything you need. Hopefully analog support for the HVR-2200 won't be too far away. Once the install has finished download and install the latest weekly snapshot.

I would like to echo samsam's sentiments.  Thanks heaps for such a thorough guide.  I used it just last week to setup mediaportal.  The wife is happy now (almost).
If only I could get mediaportal to stop hanging halfway though a recording Frown

Did anybody manage to get the DVB subtitles in MP to work? I enabled them from Mediaportal Configuration, but when I press the button, no subtitles show up on the screen.

I have Mediaportal 1 RC1, the latest SVN.

Otherwise the DVB subtitles work fine with DVB Viewer.

Are you using TVServer? Never tried it, but you're best to report the issue on the MP forums. :)

Thanks for the reply, mcraenz. Yes, I am using TV Server. Forgot to mention, my tv tuner card is Hauppauge HVR 3000, and my OS is Windows XP.

The other minor issue with MP is that I cannot get it to recognize my composite input. I have added the CVBS channels from the TV server configuration, but when I click on them, MP says that no video input was detected. The composite input works fine with DScaler or WinTV.

I will definitely make a post about this on the MP forum.

Otherwise I am quite happy with MP. Good support of my Hauppauge remote control, and it changes the freeview channels faster than DVB Viewer.
