Just wanting to check if anyone knows if there are any Hauppauge HVR2200 tuner cards available in NZ - or anywhere for that matter?

I ordered one 4 weeks ago here in Christchurch and was told it was on back order. So far I have received 3 x ETA's each saying they will arrive in one week. So far, no sign of one and the waiting game (and crook dates), is starting to annoy me.

I'm beginning to wonder if I shoud just buy a NovaT500 instead- although from what I read, they appear to be an inferior card.

Hell, if I can find one in Australia who ships to NZ, I might as well get one sent over ditch.

Cheers.

Also waiting for one for weeks. Latest info I have is...

"It is listed as the 23rd to 27th at both suppliers.
They are supposed to be released with new software that is what the delay is about."

It had better be woth the wait, tho I really don't think I will need the new software anyway!

Cheers, the last date I got was today (23 May) but you have given me hope. I can handle a few more days but not a few more weeks - my wife will have put an axe through the media centre by then!  She is sick and tired of watching adds on 'normal' TV for the first time in 2 years.  Frown

Just got this answer from New Magic tonight:

....About 6 weeks ago there was a component supply issue which ground down to a halt all Hauppauge production.  New stock commenced manufacturing last week and our stock is now in our Sydney warehouse as of yesterday, Our sub distributors and resellers should see stock by Monday next week.  Please let me know if I can be of any further help, your local store should see stock next week.

Kind Regards,
Darrell J Vanderwolf
National Sales / Marketing Manager,
New Magic Australia Pty Ltd

Finally someone with some knowledge of what the problem was and a realistic ETA. Thought I'd pass it on for everyones info.

...must have been a fairly important componant to stop all production... Frown

I have mine on order at Computer Lounge & they now seem to be ignoring my emails....so that's not looking good.

Luckily for me a guy at work has leant me a USB tuner as his PC & graphics card are not up to it.  He has a quadcore PC on order so I'm going to have it give it back next week :(

Ditto, i'm sick of sending them emails to land on deaf ears, i've even asked for my money back so i can get one from overseas with no response from them. I know it's not their fault that there is a delay, but i'm over waiting, it's been over a month now and it's just not on.

They are non existant in Australia as well, I was having a hunt around last week while I was over there. I'm planning to get one to replace my Nova 500 T.

My understanding was that Ingram stock was due in late last week however virtually all of them had been presold.

Felicks has edited his post on the Australian Vista & XP Media Center site indicating a 9th June date from New Magic. I actually got my 2200 card from Computer Lounge back in mid April but had to send it back as it was faulty. Possibly the start of their faulty components? Has been a long wait tho.

In the mean time I got a Nova T stick from Computer Lounge which I will try to use on the laptop eventually but at least I can start to get things up and running in Media Portal on the mediacenter for now. Hopefully...

A newer graphics card would be a wiser investment

Hi all,

Great place to ask this while we wait..
Does the 2200 do 'normal' analogue broadcast TV?  All the info seems to refer to Analogue cable or similar.

I'm hoping it can do DVB-T, DVB-S and good ol kiwi pal analogue broadcast tv.

Not DVB-S but DVB-T and Analog, however MediaPortal does not yet support the analog side. I doubt it will be very far away tough.
Not sure about other apps GBPVR?.

Just got a reply from Computer Lounge, they must read Geekzone :)

"The HVR2200 is still on order at the suppliers. We have been told Hauppauge have a firmware issue with the cards they have made and won't send them until they are fixed, this problem causes the Analog part of the tuner to not function. This is what all the fuss is about. We have been informed this by both suppliers. ETA is now slated from 10days to 21days. We have been informed by one of the suppliers that their stock has left but actually we will not know how true that is until they actually get the stock. Hence the two different ETA's. Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do at the moment. However we do the plenty of HVR4000 and Nova-T 500 in stock.

Sorry for the inconvenience."

Hmmmmm, firmware on component's? Either way it's 2 or 3 weeks away

I too am waiting for an HVR2200 from computer lounge...

Shame about the delay but I guess it's better than receiving a product with no analog support.

Sorry about the delay in updating things. Yes, I was given a new ETA by my supplier here in Chch (as per what I put on the Aussie forum) and the new ETA is 9 June.

The emails I received from New Magic in Aussie were very informative and they responded promptly. I found them very good to deal with but they are wholesalers at the end of the day - so not much benefit to me.

There are very limited stocks of HVR2200's over there and I was even considering buying one - but wait theres more!  The price I was quoted was A$220 not including tax (don't know if I'd have to pay that or not) plus about A$40 freight!! At that price I'll wait at least another 10 days thanks!!

So in the meantime I have bought an HVR1200, installed it last night and am now trying to get to grips with MediaPortal. Mostly success but some issues of course, I'd never be that lucky. I'm hoping I'll be able to use that card with the 2200 - when ever it arrives..... The card itself seems OK and for $81, I'm not complaining.
