For those that are interested, I've posted a new GB-PVR release over at http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread.php?t=35528

You can find a list of changes on that page, but of most interest to people here is probably the much improved support for our Freeview H.264/HE-AAC system. The release also contains lots of other stuff like improvements to the Popcorn Hour client, improved support for the Hauppauge HD-PVR etc.

Post any support questions on the GB-PVR forums.

Thanks.

Thanks sub, nice work.

I assume its ok to install over the top of old version after making a backup?

Ok update over the top seems to have worked.

But there is no option to use the Power dvd 8 audio codec:(

Yeah it just installs over the top.

I usually recommend people backup their gbpvr.db3 and config.xml files just incase anything goes wrong during the upgrade. Its pretty unlikely though.

Hey sub, wondering if you can help me out

I have an AverMedia Hybrid Tv Card, and I want to start using GB-PVR. I got the video working okay with the Cyberlink 8 codec, but had no sound.

I installed the Monogram AAC decoder, but now I don't get video or sound, it just freezes.

What am I doing wrong here?

I played with one of these a few weeks ago when and did a review on the card for Geekzone and had it working perfectly so you can be assured the card dows work with GB-PVR.

How did you install the monogram decoder? Did you remember to register it (using regsvr32) after you installed it. is there anything else you have changed at all?

Yeah I'm running XP, so i took the .ax file, put into the system32 folder, then went to Run, and put in regsvr32 then the path name to the file. Windows acknowledged it with a window, and I was then able to select Monogram AAC Decoder in the GBPVR config, but for some reason it just screwed the whole thing over.

Strange.

Good to see development continue to rock on. I am considering building an HD Freeview box, as Sky TVs HD offering will add $10 to their already bloated prices.

Hey sbiddle,

Thanks for the review of the AverTv card. I have finally got mine working with GBPVR which is way better as you said.

I was wondering if you managed to get the AverMedia Remote Control working with GBPVR, and if so on which settings?

Cheers.

- Chris

No I didn't and there probably is no way to get it going since it's integrated into the TV card itself without sub having to write new code to support it.

Cheers for that. I have a bit of a quirk when using GBPVR with the AverTV card. With the Monogram AAC decoder installed, GBPVR doesnt let you start to watch Live TV on any channel except TV3 (AC3). Once you have gone to this channel, you can go to other AAC channels, but it doesnt let me start to watch an AAC Channel (or record them for that matter).

You didnt find anything like this for the PCI-e Speedy card?
