Sooo....just received a new Panasonic Viera tv ex600 series model last night and when I go to setup the tv channels using the aerial that was plugged into the set top box no channels are found.

The TV has dual tuners and I have tried different cables and connections but to no joy.

Our STB which I want to avoid having to use is a Telray DVB one and using a cable from wall (floor thing) to the back of that produces the channels just fine but if I unplug the aerial from the back of the STB and put it into the tv i'm getting no channels found across all scan options.

The manual suggests there may be a need to change the LNB band frequency and tells me to go to setup menu, satellite tv menu LNB configuration however there is no satellite tv menu inside the tv menu.  I have a digital tv tuning menu which has no options for satellite tv in it (greyed out or otherwise).

If anyone can offer suggestions that don't involve calling someone out or has had similar problems and resolved them I would greatly appreciate some help.

It has a satellite tuner and a terrestrial tuner by the look of the Panasonic page.

So you would need the satellite dish plugged into the port for the satellite tuner on the back of the TV

OR

If you are using a rooftop aerial you need to have that plugged into the correct port for the terrestrial tuner on the TV.

I imagine under the tuning menu, you need to select the appropriate tuner to running the tuning operation on.

Do you have a rooftop aerial - or are you just trying the satellite dish?

The settings menu in the Telray may give you some info as well.
As robjg said above, be handy to know if the STB is DVB-T or DVB-S.
I just downloaded and looked at the owner's manual for the EX600. It has so little info in it, I don't know why they wasted paper printing it!
There are other things that can affect the satellite tuning particularly. The correct lnb frequency and whether it is receiving power from the TV. The lnb is likely to be 10750 or 11300.
I know when I set the satellite tuning up on or Samsung TV at the beach, the satellite tuning settings were in a completely separate and randomly placed part of the menu system. Maybe the Panasonic is the same?

What I did note is there is a different tuning routine for Australia vs NZ. Maybe going right back to the beginning and make sure NZ is selected?

Edit: Disregard my comment about the owner's manual, the info is in the eHelp file. Page 101-107. I assume that is what you are working from?

Sorry for the slowish reply not using the ehelp just the manual to date.  The Telray STB is a satellite connection appearing to be grabbing the channels from the optusd1 10750.....

I think the tv is using the optusd1 11300 which could be the issue just need to figure out how to swap it around.

As for the outside aerial/dish I assume it's a from a sky install and a dish (can't see it) as the igloo box we used at our old address is UHF and would not work at all.

Thabnks for the help and suggestions of using ehelp.....I found the reason I couldn't find the menu for the satellite tuning.....the paper based manual is rather bare and doesn't point out the different menu options showing only when in the right tuning option...

I was continually trying the option for digital tuning so I could not see the satellite option at all...I found the satellite option, got the setup options for the satellite and changed to the optusd1 10750 completed a search and have too many channels now I have to get rid of some but very happy I can finally get rid of the Telray temperamental beast.

The joys of not having to do settings changes for such a long time (must be close to 10 years).
