TVNZ 1, 2 and Duke are back on air following an outage this afternoon, but services are still intermittent in some areas.

As a temporary measure, TVNZ 1 is now available on Freeview channel 100 and TVNZ 2 is available on Freeview channel 101 for viewers still experiencing issues.

Viewers are also able to watch live streams of our channels on tvnz.co.nz.

The outage affected Auckland viewers who get their TV via Freeview digital terrestrial TV - via an aerial.

A fault at the Waiatarua transmission site caused an unscheduled outage at approximately 3.15pm – affecting all TVNZ channels in the Auckland region. Services are back for some viewers, but the signal may be patchy and unstable.

Issues may continue through the night, and work to fully restore the service is a priority.

"We apologise to our viewers for the inconvenience," a spokesperson said.

Viewers who receive their TV via a satellite dish, such as Sky and Freeview DTH, are unaffected.

Was this Waiatarua only? I assume the other UHF stations are line-fed and thus not affected.

Whoops!!!  So it was.  Why are these two channels still there then after a month!?  Looks like they are on the Kordia Mux.  Assume they are not on any of the other sites in AKL?

PS:  Changed Title from 27/12 to 21/11.

There are also a bunch of "Hidden" versions of TVNZ's channes at 600-603.

These are using the same Audio/Video PIDs as the main broadcasts, so I don't know what is different about their configuration.

A friend of mine is complaining that 'normal' tvnz 1 and 2 have not fully recovered after this event.

He gets tvnz 1 with good reception on only channel 100. 101 is no longer on air.

He has a dishtv T1000. Old. 2014 firmware 1.51. Channel 600 does not appear by default in autotune. Is there a specific chan/frequency to try?
