Our Freeview S7090PVR is refusing to power up today, so it looks like I'm in the market for a new box.

I would love to avoid DishTV as I have found their gear to be poorly implemented, the GZ thread on the S8200 suggests nothing has changed recently. Problem is, a look around the retailers seem to suggest that DishTV is the only option, and the S8200 is the only box with the specs we want, dual channel recording.

We are stuck on DVB-S as we have hills blocking the DVB-T signal

Does any one know if the S8300 is a new model for the S8200, I can't see any retailer stocking it, or any mention of it on GZ

Try the Vu Solo2, just got one for the parents as their Dish box was confusing them no end and they had a a Duo before that,

Linnux based. I have a two tuner version. It is fast. There is no "middleware". I use the two USB ports for a wifi dongle and hard disk drive. It can decode and store on the hard drive all the channels on two freeview transponders simultaneously. Internet access can be set to the box and remote use made of it.

So I grabbed a DishTV S8200 over the weekend to get the TV back working, it seemed like a pretty good interface, much improved from the S7090 I had previously, I called DishTV and they confirmed the S8300 is the new replacement version of the S8200, so we're picked one up today to try and will return the S8200, will see how it goes.....

Still surprised there are no other brands in retail other than DishTV.

Zgemma and VuPlus receivers are just 2 of many brands that run Enigma2 software. One of the major Enigma2 image suppliers is OpenPLi - worth a look to see all the supported receivers.
