Is anybody able to tell me whether the new My Sky HDi boxes will have Component Video Out and if so, will this output at 1080p?

Many thanks

Component out yes but 1080p no. The box only outputs 1080i and possibly 720p.

Great - thanks for that. Do you know where I could get a specification sheet for this box?

MySky HDi will only do HD over HDMI

Component will be restricted to SD resolutions.

And just be aware that it's highly unlikely we'll ever see any 1080p broadcast content in the forseeable future due to the large bandwidth requirements.

720p and 1080i will be the only two HD formats for broadcast for many years to come unless somebody can create a magical compression codec that can halve the existing MPEG4 compression rates by another 50%!

1080p will be limited to BluRay and download services (such as AppleTV/iTunes) only.
