Interesting.. isn't Freeview channel 14 the channel that The Edge TV is moving to later this year?

TVNZ must just have dibs on it for the duration of the games, before Edge moves to 14 and Three Life starts on 11 (currently occupied by The Edge).

Time to throw that bigger recording drive into the server I think!

Correct, The Edge will move shortly afterwards when TVNZ takes down the channel. 

Looking at the rate cards, TVNZ 1 is stopping all normal programming for coverage as well as TVNZ Duke, TVNZ Games Extra and TVNZ Games Extra Online channels.

That's quite a good chunk of coverage then. Especially since 1, Duke and Games Online are going to be HD (though I expect Online will only be 720P25). Definitely a good idea to upgrade that record drive! I'd expect Games Extra will remain 576i?

Correct.  SD only.

The SD games extra channel started on Freeview satellite last month. But may not appear until nearer the date on official freeview units.

The LCN allocation has commenced, it should now sit on channel 14 with the EPG data and Freeview Plus data now available.
Not too sure on UHF though but the channel should now appear on official freeview devices

I notice the 1+1 channel ain't on for the duration. Is that coz they'd have to pay twice for broadcast rights?

It's because they used the space from 1+1 for Extra.

As of yesterday, Edge tv has moved from channel 18 to 14 to replace the Games Extra channel which has been dormant since the Commonwealth games finished in April

Freeview forum has more info. May need to do a retune. Noticed that Kordia tv channel 200 has gone too.
