Hey

When viewing or recording tv3 wiether it's proper HD or just the upscale there is a glitch every couple of minutes where the FPS drops to about 10 or so, or when viewing a recording it skips a bit.

Anyone with any ideas?

Specs in signature.

Thanks

Getting MP to play nicely with Codecs is like getting a bull to play nicely with a matador. Sometimes it's just beautiful and everything works in perfect harmony, other times something really really bad happens.

I suspect it's a codec problem. This has been talked about on the MP forums extensively, particularly in the NZers topic.

What codecs do you have installed for MP?

I'd drop Monogram for the audio and use the Cyberlink one instead. I found the Monogram AAC codec to be of poor quality.

make sure you have no post processing going on and if you have FFDSHOW installed make sure h.264 decoding is disabled.

What is your CPU usage when watching - is your hardware decoding working?

Dont have ffdshow installed.
CPU usage is about 20% - box is checked in powerdvd

deinterlace = weave.

Hmm, I’d keep your h.264 codecs as they are but If you have ffdshow installed, remove it, or set it up to only do its thing on movies rather than TV. Then ensure you have all the windows updates installed (except the psisdecd.dll one or whatever it’s called)

This is how I install MP’s codecs

Install PowerDVD 8

Install matroska splitter

Install real alternative

Install quicktime alternative

Now in the MP settings for the TV I change the deinterlace mode to weave, I find TV3 best with this setting. If you don’t’ want to change anything else, I’d try changing this one first.

Check MPEG-2 decoder is the MPV one, and the Audio decoder is the MPA one.

Ensure “default direct sound device” is selected for the audio renderer.

Then I’m good to go.

Ive had more success on Tv3 with the hybrid cards using CoreAVC codec for H.264, worth a try (free trial version available), certainly uses less CPU.  Am getting less than 4% CPU usage on quad core 2.4
