Sony:

-In sizes 32, 40, 46, & 52"
-In both V and W series
-Full HD (1920x1080)
-10 bit panels
-SPDIF/Optical Out
-Model numbers possibly: KDL-40V400A, KDL-40W400A etc

Samsung:

-Releasing August/September, more details next week.

Sorry no other info at this stage, will post when I find out. Info from a sony/samsung reps via a friend at Noel Leeming.

Sony - W Series is full HD, V Series isn't.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

I know, this new V series may be 1080p according to the source, but does sound a bit odd since they've only been 1366x768 in the past. Will post more info when I get it.

The press release including all the models and prices was posted on the Freeview website last week and is available here

From what I've heard normal retail is around 10% less than the Sony SRP at most retailers but that may depend on the model.

Check dicky's website using rscole86's post, looks like the 400 series are both 1920x1080.

Wow, I can't believe how much info is around everywhere, pictures, press releases etc! Now can someone find a link to the NZ manuals for these TV's!

No they are not.

As has already been said, the V series is 1366 x 768, but it will accept at 1080 signal.
Only the W series is 1920 x 1080.

I am sure Sony will have all of the info on their Website as of Tuesday morning. Monday is release day here in Wellington.

OK thats weird, the 46" V is 1080 according to dse's website, however the 32"/40" V is only 1366x768! So the V series has a mix of res's unless dse messed up.

According to a reliable source, all but the 32" V are 1080p. The XMB sounds pretty awesome too!

Looks like minimad was right, according to Sony's site only the 32" is not 1080P.
