I have been using the new Freeview on my Panasonic 4k tv for a few days. The banner seems to disappear on some channels and I have occasionally managed to have it stuck permanently. Given the length of time in development it’s a bit disappointing in my opinion. It’s good having one player for on demand but you can no longer play shows directly from the TV guide. Also when I leave an in demand item the current tv channel does not play. It presents a blank screen until I press the exit key on my remote. Doesn’t seem to be very well tested.

I wonder if they've accidentally released it - it still says coming soon on the Freeview Website.

Not on Samsung TVs, still the old 07/17 app.

By 'new freeview' I presume you mean freeview plus, which is a few years old?

I also have a Panasonic 4k TV and its implementation sucks.  It seems like an afterthought.  Programs cant be recorded properly, no series link (despite having dual UHF tuners), two TV guides (but only being able to record from one of them)

'new freeview' means the Freeview update that is advised on Freeview site, i.e., a new app.

Yes a whole new Freeview experience. New banner, guide, and on demand app.

I wrote to them asking why the update had not been applied to my PVR.

Their reply.....

Thanks for getting in touch.

We can advise that the service is coming out in stages, at this point in time only select Smart TV's from 2017 to 2018 have received the update, however we can advise that the service will be supplied to other devices in the coming weeks if not days.

I hope you have a great day

Team Freeview

I just saw it first time last night, had to make an account like TVNZ.

Overall I quite liked it, picture was good.
They do auto play, so I just back out while add at end playing.
If there’s no add in a break it still stops and counts down 1 second, where TVNZ applic keeps playing seemlessy.

Real nice being able to have all TV programs in one applic. Also magic link works, where click on TV channel and up comes you tube etc stuff related to what is currently on TV, think it’s the TV doing that though, not Freeview. LG 2017 TV.

I wish they would spend a bit more time sorting out the EPG. No idea why some of the programs I decide to record end up being on the plus one channels even though nothing else is being recorded.
