Hi guys,

My sister doesn't have TV3 and Prime (and it's fellow transponder channels), anymore..  its got me puzzled.  We did an automatic re-tune, but it still only picked up the TVNZ channels.

Her firmware wasn't up to date, so we have plugged in an ethernet cable and adjusted its scheduled update time to 7pm tonight.  We are hoping that does the trick, but I have also been looking around and reading the manual on how to to a manual tune, such as adding those transponders (https://www.alliancerv.co.nz/blog/post/10948/Freeview-Satellite-Transponder-List/) manually for a scan.

The problem is the setup instructions are very vague..  https://www.manualslib.com/manual/649367/Panasonic-Dmrxw380.html?page=76

It's not like my cheapo DishTV tuner where its quite clearly labeled to add a transponder lol

Has anyone got this machine and quite familiar with its setup?  would love some quick photos or instructions on how to add those transponders so she can get the missing channels.

We do have our fingers crossed that the machine will update as scheduled though (it doesn't allow updating via USB, or a manual button to update over networks..  and who owns CD-Rs these days?).

Thanks!!

I'm a fool!  This machine is tuning in from DVB-T not, DVB-S..

Why would it be skipping over TV3 channels though?

It will be poor DVB-T signal - just enough to get the mux that TV3 is on.

Damn that's weird, I didn't know signal strength could be effected like that.  I thought it would have been like Sat, you either get it or you don't.

I guess I won't be able to fix it for her over the telephone then lol! (im in Northland, shes in Fielding).  She will have to pay up and get a technician to check it again.

Is there a splitter anywhere? If so, get her to connect the cable directly to the device.

Nah it was a whole new antenna and cable a couple of months after she moved in.  Direct into the lounge.

I also have the 380 but don't believe there has been a firmware update since the original release.

My only suggestion is to check that the aerial is intact after any recent wild weather, and all the connections are plugged in snugly.

1.43 is the most recent update (2011), and hers was still on 1.0 something.  According to the manual it should be able to update "over the air", but it never did, and she didn't have it connected to the net either.  It updated earlier but yeah shes going to get the same installer who did it previously, to come round and do a signal check.

Sorry, my mistake - I have the 390 which doesn't appear to have had any updates from the original 1.0 release (surprisingly).

How did the network update go?
