Hi everyone. I have just receivd the new Acer Aspire 8920 Notebook. Very nice apart from the fact it doesnt appear to have software to allow me to get TV here in NZ. I need software to support the Avermedia Card AverMedia A309 mini card DVB-Tinside so I can view DVD-T TV encoded in x.264. Any help would be appreciated Thankyou.

Where did you buy it from? Are you sure it has a DVB-T tuner compatible in NZ?
Does it even have the DVB-T tuner in it, as it is an optional extra on some models.

After much mucking around (and head banging) I've managed to get an Acer 6920G that has the same A309 card work.

First up the supplied aerial isn't much. Apart from the top of an office building I pretty much had line of sight to the Dunedin transmitter (Mt Cargill). Rabbit ears connected to the supplied adaptor worked much better.

Tried a heap of programmes:

GB-PVR - kept popping up an error about the care not being connected or something
Transedit MMC (test prog on dvbviewer.com) - no luck scanning, came up blank
DVBProg - could tune the channels but not watch anything.

Finally got it going in MediaPortal (recording BSG right now). Just in case I went to the acer website and reinstalled the driver. Other than that just went along with the setup guide stickied at the top of the forum. Using the PowerDVD 8 Ultra codecs.

Oh the first few MP scans showed good quality and signal. I enabled Linkage Scanner in TV Server's General Settings>Scan menu. Not acutually sure what it mean, or if this is even what got me on the way but thought I'd mention.
