just wondering if its possible to record the raw h.264 stream from dvb-t freeview and author it directly onto blueray disk without any quality loss (basicly without having to convert formats etc...)  very similar to recording a raw MPEG2 TS stream from dvb-s, extracting the video and audio to m2v and mp2 files, authoring to IFO/VOB's, and then burning to dvd-r using nero.

Ive heard that the audio stream in a freeview h.264 file needs to be decompressed to PCM first before authoring to blueray? would like to hear from anyone who has successfully done this

Simple enough if the streams are from TV3 and you have captured the AC-3 streams rather than the ones with AAC-HE LATM audio.

All you do is run the ts files through Tsremux. choose BR as the output format and the program will output the files ina format suitable to be burnt to a BR disc (or DVD for that matter) using freeware software like Imgburn. No menus etc. but it will be a BR format disc playable on any BR player. The cool thing here is you don't need to have BR media - DVD is fine also so long as the file is < 4G.

For DVB-T with AAC-HE LATM audio (so TV1 TV2) you will need to convert the audio. There might be othe ways to do it but I described my way here

Convert AAC files

After that follow the steps outlined above

thanks for the advice, much appreciated :)

i also need to get a dvb-t pci card for freeview, ive found one at pb technologies on the following page:
http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?item=TVNHGR0054

Could anyone confirm that this can record the raw TS stream? it says "record
two digital TV programmes at once using high quality MPEG-2 video" but it doesnt say anything about recording in TS format or even H.264 ?

The Nova T 500 works fine for Freeview|HD with appropiate software.

That's what I am replacing my HVR-900H with. While the 900H works I am experiencing a couple of issues with it (possibly not both card related)

1. gbpvr loses the card every now and then (records a show, gets no data and starts another file with a -1 suffixed to the end of the filename)
2. Random static on the audio track which makes compressing the video and muxing back pretty hard since most tools throw away that static in the ac3 stream resulting in audio/video sync issues

[edit]

I got my Nova T 500HD from here

That price includes gst and shipping
