I am in Napier and usually watch tv3 in the mornings. Starting yesterday the sound very patchy. Sound was dropping out every few seconds for a second or so. This is only happening on tv3. All other channels are fine.
I get picture break up as well on one television.
This is on two magic TV 3600 hard drive recorders, a Samsung 46 in TV with built in tuner and a Sony 55 in TV with a built in tuner. It's only tv3. Tv3+1 is fine as are tv1 and 2.

Has anyone else noticed this?
We don't watch much on tv3 so it is not a huge problem but wanted to make sure it is not just me before I take the next step to try and resolve it.
I have looked at media works and freeview web site and face book page's and there is no mention of any issues that I can find.

Which audio stream are you using? The AAC or AC3 audio stream?

Using AAC. Seem to be getting major picture pixilation today as well.
The AM show has now finished and entertainment tonight is on and everything is fine now. Even the adds are fine.
I will have to check it during the day to see if it is just the am show or maybe NZ local like the news etc.

Check your antenna.

It sounds like you are splitting the signal quite a lot - have you got an amplified splitter?

If you bypass your splitter and go direct to one TV, is the problem solved?

Looks like will have to get up to the antenna as no one else is having the same problem.
There is only one splitter. Comes from the antenna to the splitter. Gets split to the living room and to the bedroom. Goes to a magic TV then from the magic TV to the tv. Same in both rooms.
It's strange as the problem only started yesterday morning on all devices. Today was still faulty until the end of the AM show and fine since then. Well I have just checked it again and it is still fine. Will keep checking from time to time. If it's still faulty tomorrow I will bypass the splitter as you suggest and go directly to each device. Good place to start after I redo the antenna connection.

I'm in Napier too and TV3 has been working perfectly for me.  That said I only watch recordings off air rather than live and it only records programming in the evenings.

Sounds like an aerial problem to me.  It's the common denominator that everything including different tuners and their varying sensitivities all have the same problem.

We've had some rubbish weather over the past 48 hours.  It's possible it tipped something exposed to the elements over the edge especially if you're also coastal where the aerial or external splitter terminal may have corrosion from salt spray.

First port of call though is to get a straighter line from aerial to TV to rule out multiple splitters and device pass-throughs.  If OK slowly add things back in line one by one until you isolate the device causing the issues.

On a Sony TV, Goto Customer Suppport - System information then scroll down

This will show you the signal/quality level of the DVB-T connection

Thank you for the help and advise.
The problem seems to be resolved now but I really didn't find anything that I can say, that was the problem.

I cleaned up the antenna connection but to be fair it was pretty good. Then redid the splitter connections which also looked pretty good.
Unfortunately the house is wired with the old analog wiring and splitters not rg6 and F connectors. Little project for a future day.

I checked the signal on all the devices and signal strength on the two magic TV hard drive recorders and Samsung tv is 80 and the Sony TV 90, and signal quality is 100 on all devices. These were at these levels before I did any repairs and are unchanged now that it seems to be resolved.

All seems a little strange but fingers crossed it is resolved. May have been caused by the rain I guess so it will be interesting to see what happens when we get wet weather next.

Sounds like you are getting enough signal

It could also be an interference issue caused by 4G / something else

In my office (Dunedin), our TV reception has issues around 9:30am and 3pm each day where the picture becomes blocky because of something turned on in the area. Haven't had a chance to diagnose that further yet

Actually I've noticed a bit of an issue with an HDHomeRun and sound on TV3. It doesn't get a lot of use in our current setup, but flicking through the channels on it the other day, I kept getting a "lost sound" or similar message on TV3. This will be from Mt Kaukau. I've not investigated it any further though.
