I've recently had a chance to play with EyeTV on the Mac and I must say overall i'm very impressed.

The only major issue is it doesn't appear to handle the SBR portion of HE-AAC correctly, and provides 22 kHz audio rather than the full 48 kHz. If I compare playback under Linux and Mac the Linux audio appears to be a lot more rounded, especially noticable on C4.

Has anyone else noticed this and have a work around, or seen bug reports on the EyeTV website?

The audio in eyetv for the aac channels is quite bad. It hasn't been fixed in 3.0.3 either.

A real shame about that.

I loaded up the freeview|HD channels on a MythTV test rig and tried switching between AC-3 and AAC. Other than the loudness issue other people had reported there wasn't the same huge difference you get with EyeTV.

I also tried comparing the DVB-S and DVB-T versions of selected channels like C4 which under MythTV sounded equivalent, but again the EyeTV version sounded dreadful.
