So what do we have in HD on Tuesday. Well it looks like we have just the one show.

TV3 8:30 CSI New York - Dolby Digital Audio

Do TV1 and TV3 transmit HD for their news programs such as their breakfast shows? Having got used to the Olympic content it looks SD now.

SD. The cost of upgrading all their studios to HD is not insignificant and it's not clear if either TVNZ or TV3 have budgeted for that. And that doesn't include the cost of upgrading all their field equipment.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

in contrast Sky now have an HD studio, as most panel shows (Reunion, ING Golf, The Crowd Goes Wild, Primetime etc) are now available in HD.

I've not long come back from a trip to the US. I was up in Portland Oregon and then San Francisco. I noticed in the Portland Area one of the local affliates was trying to differentiate itself as being the only channel with news in HD. All of the other major channels still did most of their news broadcasts in SD.

I think the focus for the moment will be on major events, especially sports, and imported programs.

Saying that we will start to see some local HD shows like the Jaquie Brown Diaries.

I recorded CSI last night, after finally sorting out my reception issues (By putting the aerial in my ceiling!!) and watched some of it, but it wasn't 5.1. Was it supposed to be? I'm wondering if I've got a confiuration problem or if it was broadcast in dolby stereo..?
