Hi guys,

I have just installed a hauppauge wintv Nova-T, and im having some problems with viewing recording Freeview | HD. I can view the channels in powercinema (cyberlink) but when i record them i have no audio. Unless it is played back by powercinema or powerdvd 7. Is there any way of making powercinema record properly, i have tried other programs like dvb viewer but i seem to have no luck with them. also what conversion software is there out there that will nicely convert freeview recordings into other formats such as .avi, or x264. What other programs do you guys recommend to view and record on. With smooth audio and video on recordings to.

I can't be bothered finding a link but google for registering the Monogramm AAC codec, it may be what PowerCinema needs. There are however much better progams for watching Freeview HD, namely MediaPortal and GBPVR. Check them out, threads on this board would be a good start.

On that note, check the Freeview forumn for threads on converting the .ts files, there has been heaps of talk about it but sadly no easy solution yet.

Yes, but only for TV3 (or any channel that offers an AC3 audio stream, which until recently, included TV1)

here's what you do:  When streaming live TV, move your cursor to the bottom of the screen and click on the "A" icon.  Select the "Audio 2" stream and you are now receiving AC3.

Start recording -and you will now be able to playback the AC3 stream on your 3rd party applications (that don't support AAC audio)

BTW, I don't recommand Powercinema as a long-term solution.

MediaPortal of GB-PVR are much more powerful/feature rich applications.

I have tried those other programes but i seem to have no luck with them. And the recordings are in .mpg from powercinema not .ts. Thinking it might be a reception issue for the other programs not picking them up, how do  u find the signal strength of each channel in gb pvr cause i can pick them just cant get into them.

But I wasn't provding you with a solution, I was explaining why you get no audio (you didn't say what you were playing your recording back with -Windows Media Player?).  You wanted to get "power cinema working properly" but it already is.  Power Cinema does not convert audio-formats, it just records them.

Unless your playback software can support AAC you will get "no audio" and that is a weakness of your playback software -not power cinema.

As I said, if you record the AC3 sound track (available on TV3) you will get audio (assuming you have support for AC3 installed).  If you can playback DVD's with Dolby Digital (with whatever playback program you are having problems with) then the answer to that would be yes.

Hi, I have problems with all programs even vlc which seems to play just about anything. Yes i tried that audio trick i have, but it only seems to appear on certain programs. Which i guess depends on the content been aired. I have k lite codec pack, i have alos tried other commonly used codec packs. What software for playback would u recommend or codec pack. That supports the audio. Thanks for helping btw
