This may sound like a stupid question, but if I was to get a WinTV-HVR4000 will this be able to get the HD terrestrial free view?

All the specs I see for it say it will work with;

– DVB-S2 hi-definition digital Satellite TV
– DVB-S digital Satellite TV
– Freeview digital Terrestrial TV
– Analogue TV

Does the fact that it does freeview digital terrestrial mean it will also do the HD channels or do I need to get a HD box as well to plug into it?

I'm looking at building a good old HTPC and was going to use this as my TV card, will it do the trick? I have a 1080p TV so want to be able to get the best signals to it.

Cheers

if you are buying an HVR-4000, this will do Freeview|HD, as long as your PC can do all the work. There's plenty of posts on this around here.

The bonus of an HVR-4000 is it can do HD satellite stuff too, but there is no unencrypted/free satellite content available in NZ yet :(

Thanks for that, glad to get it clarified.

Rest of the PC should handle it just fine, HD freeview here we come!
