I noticed my sky sattelite box has a loop/out socket on the back of it.  Can this be used to loop the signal from the satellite dish to a freeview set top box, in the same room or do I need a direct connection to the satellite dish.

By the way I have no kowledge of this topic, so if replying please give me the "for dummies" version

I have a splitter etc to distribute staellite signal around the home, but if I can simply connect the sky and freeview decoders in the lounge together, that would be a simple solution.
