I got my new smart tv today everything's set up but I can't seem to get freeview working.

While I think its reading the satellite cable is plugged in I cant get any channels

The set up at the place I live has both a unf and sky satellite

I've used a box before this tv arrived and got the channels working on that. The tv is a samsung 65 inch crystal uhd if that helps

Are you trying to connect to the UHF aerial or satellite?  Unlikley the TV has a built in tuner for the latter.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

You need to make sure you have the satellite option selected on the tv when you scan for channels. The same with terrestrial channels. Make sure you have the different antenna options plugged in correctly. The satellite feed should have a screw thread and terrstrial a uhf connector (looks like old style round plug with centre feed)

Is this a samsung smart tv? you need to turn 22KHz tone to off, freeview sat, and pick the right frequency which I could tell you if you let me know where you are. For example in auckland this is normally 10750

See here for a basic settings guide:

-> Aerial = Freeview Sat
-> Channel Settings
->-> Country = New Zealand
->-> Satellite System (enter your PIN - default code is 0000)
->->-> LNB Power = On
->->-> LNB Settings
->->->-> Satellite = Optus D1 160E
->->->-> Transponder = 12483 MHz, H/L
->->->-> DiSEqC Mode = Off
->->->-> LNB Type = Single Oscillator
->->->-> LNB Oscillators = 10750 Mhz
->->->-> Tone 22 kHz = Off

You should see some kind of signal strength meter go up when you have these settings in.

The menu options may be slightly different depending on brand and model, but as long as you've got a satellite cable into the satellite tuner or you know that your tv has a combined tuner for the one input, you should be good to go.

If the auto channel scan worked and you're on a samsung tv you'll be using terrestrial freeview, FYI. The satellite option always needs adjusting.

Satellite option would hardly be a good choice for a 65" given all channels are 576i.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
