Can't see in the news story the technical details e.g Freeview UHF and/or Satellite, Sky, Vodafone TV, etc. I was under the impression there isn't a lot of room left on Freeview also so wondering if the likes of Bravo, The Edge TV and the +1 chans will be sacrificed.

I assume that these channels will mainly carry content from Discovery's massive overseas portfolio. On the flip side, the NZ content that they have announced today will probably end up on their 'low revenue, low investment' channels overseas.

I have heard that at least one of these new channels is targeting the 40 to 54 demographic. They may have looked at the ratings success of NZME's blokey radio stations targeted at older audiences and figured they could replicate that on television. I have doubts as to how interested advertisers will be.

Yes Gusto is a food channel that is streaming everywhere on various service as a free linear stream. Not sure if any connection to it or just using the same name?

As for Rush It will probably compete with Duke... The Rush channel is available in Australia via Channel 9. Its pretty much old series from Discovery

I watch a little bit of content on Choice. I'm hoping that the content is still available somewhere...perhaps on these new channels

I've yet to see a confirmation on the future of Breeze TV and Edge TV.  Capacity wise I'd be surprised not to see one or both of these go.

I'd also expect to see some re-numbering as they'd want Gusto to be in a lower number range to help raise its profile.

I been wondering what the arrangement is with The Edge and The Breeze TV when the TV assets were told to Discovery

Given The Edge TV is already in HD, bandwidth freed up from Choice TV and The Breeze TV they could have both channels in HD.

I've been to a couple of parties where The Breeze TV was playing in the background and was often a talking point based on the band/musician on screen at any given time.  Sort of like years ago when bars would have Juice TV (when Sky had it) playing in the corner for music and moving wallpaper.  I know Channel 200 run Juice TV to fill airtime but it's not the same.

Maybe they could use the useless +1 channels for these and upgrade to HD..

Currently their dedicated DTT MUX looks like this in Auckland

Three:570000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:450:400:1300
Bravo:570000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:451:401:1307
ThreePlus1:570000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:452:402:1302
Bravo PLUS 1:570000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:456:406:1308
Breeze TV:570000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:455:405:1306
The Edge TV:570000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:458:408:1305

Meanwhile Choice and HGTV are on two different mulitplexes

ChoiceTV:602000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:556:606:1407

HGTV:586000000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:508:658:1508

Up on Optus D1 all these channels share the same multiplex

Three:12456:h:0:22500:512:650:1920
Bravo:12456:h:0:22500:513:651:1921
ThreePlus1:12456:h:0:22500:518:656:1926
The Edge TV:12456:h:0:22500:509:647:1919
Choice TV:12456:h:0:22500:514:652:1941
HGTV:12456:h:0:22500:520:658:1928

Whilst Bravo+1 and Breeze are actually on SkyTV managed frequencies

Bravo PLUS1:12519:h:0:22500:1014:1114:1510
Breeze TV:12519:h:0:22500:1005:1105:1512

The remix of all of these should be interesting.

I Hope they keep Edge TV and The Breeze online as linear streams, they are good for background music

Given Mediaworks and Discovery are separate they would ideally need to port the Rova app to Apple/Android TV (and some other TV brands) and stream it themselves through that

I highly doubt that Mediaworks would want to put resources into Breeze/Edge TV. They are currently focused on getting their new talk radio brand and newsroom up and running.
