I've just been watching the Freeview|HD feed for a few minutes now since seeing your post and have no issues here. There is currently 16:9 content content being broadcast.

I have changed boxes over to the downstairs one and its still doing it - same model box.

The software on them is really old, but I dont know if there is any newer ones or not...

Now the content has finished its sitting on a solid letterboxed output with the next screening page.

Will see how it looks next time I happen to be watching tv and there is actually something on it.

I watched about 30 minutes of the TVNZ Sports Extra tennis coverage on Freeview|HD last night. It was a constant 16:9 transmission for that period.
