Morning anyone happy to help..

Usually I can solve this sort of thing myself but I am stuck!..

I have just purchased a Samsung TV with built in HD Freeview..  HOW ON EARTH do I access it through this tele?
I have a UHF terrestrial aerial and also Sky Digital and thought I did everything right but according to a collegue of mine I just accidentally tuned in normal channels into my TV last night...
Now I have the Sky part of the problem sorted and have also put in a Power Pass Splitter to access the UHF aerial also.

So please tell me what I am missing..?

Many thanks!

Have you read the manual where it talks about tuning in digital signals?

You simply need to go to the setup menu and it brings up options for analogue or digital signals. Click on digital and it'll tune in the Freeview|HD channels. Click on analogue and it will do the analogue channels.

If you have done a digital scan and no channels appear then you obviously have an issue somewhere either with your UHF aerial or cabling.

Try pressing the channel button twice to get to digital mode (freeviewHD).

For example if you are on analogue channel two,  press the 2 button on the remote twice( 22)

The TV should then change to digital mode. Then change channels normally from then on.

No doubt it is something simple..

I take it you are in a freeviewHD coverage area and your tv can see prime TV on analouge ok?

Hmmm...

I've always had Sky to rely on..

After tuning it last night I could Prime but very badly.  Fuzzy reception, even for TV1.
We are in the Central part of Wellington, so the coverage should be good plus the UHF aerial is up and pointing at the right place, but I do wonder if it has been knocked around a bit..

If your Prime reception is extremely poor there is a chance you won't get any of the digital channels. I'm guessing however that you have simply missed tuning them in and selected analogue only. There is no need to bother tuning the analogue channels in if you pick up the digital channels.

Well you have to wonder if this is the case.

I checked the quality of the RG6 etc and nothing is wrong in that area.
Might need a new Terrestrial?

That sounds like a fun job..!

So have you tried selecting Digital when it asks you? If the TV is then searching all channels and not finding anything then your signal strength is too low.

Well I could install a Splitter Amplifier to boost signal strength but if it is a simple as "The wind has pushed the Aerial just slightly out of the signal range" then it won't be of much help..

I will look at the whole scenario again tonight (for the third night in a row) and see what it could possibly be.

No doubt it is something logical?  And like you've said I've gone through all the digital channels only to find TV1, 2 and three and a assortment of Sky channels.  So makes me think I've applied myself slightly incorrectly in some way.

You're not in an apartment are you? How is your Sky hooked up to the TV?

In a small apartment block of four, could almost say flat block.

Sky is f connect to the decoder, so from the dish and aerial and down to the decoder.

And then RCA'd into the back of the TV.  Sorry Scart to RCA of course.

I also found on mine that I had to hit 001  for the DTV tuner (rather than 1), or it would default to the ATV (analogue) Especailly if I had just viewed Prime.  Then once on the DTV 1, 2, 3 would select the digitial versions..  But that first just from analoge to digital needed the "00"
