Hi all,

been reading around on this forum for a little while now, have just picked up a Hauppauge HVR-3000 and am trying to get all NZ freeview channels via Satellite,

After insattling Media Portal, and scanning chennels i can pick up most of the NZ FTA channels (bar TVNZ Sprot Extra - Which was my whole reason for going through this) but neways, i can preview the channel of choice in TV-Server Config, but when in Medial Portal itself i cannot view the chennels?

any mediaportal gurus please i need help .. will post whatever screenines you need.. if you need them

thanks in advance.

Do you see the channels listed in mediaportal? what happens if you try to view them. You might also want to come over the NZ thread on the MediaPortal forum and ask.

i can scroll throught the list of chennels i have selected (tickbox'd) in the tv server config, but when i click on the channel i want to view nothing comes up in the box.

cheers

Can you view the channels you have 'tuned' in the TV Guide in MP? If you have left the default configuration you should see all the tuned channels in here.

If you are just selecting the channel by using the numbers on your remote, it is possible that are not mapped correctly.

With regards to not getting Sports Extra, that is a mystery. I have scanned the channels many times when playing with MP and always get all of the channels. i could give you the parameters that i have in TV Config and you could try to enter it manually.

Thanks GF74, the config for TVNZ Sprot Extra would be great, as you can see from the below pics i cant get TVNZ6 or 7, i really dont know whats up??

but a little bit of news, i uninstalled MP (everything) SQL and proceded to do a fresh install of MP 1.0 final, after the install i done the XP hotfix, restarted,  scanned the channels (all the same channels came up) i went to the TV Channels tab, maped the channels over, setup the MP config side aswell, started MP up and managed to view TV One perfectly, C4 audio was good but id get about 1 frame every 20secconds, and the same with TV2, TV3 wouldnt even come up...

so i proceded to uninstall again and install RC4, this is when the major problems started, firt it killed my audio, so i uninstalled the audio drivers.. and left tehm out of the pic for the moment, then after doing the hotfix for XP, scanned the chennels (same channels came up), mapped them over... but heres where im pulling my hair out (see below) even if i try to previe a channel i get  the error: channel not mapped to any card.

image 1 here

image 2 here

im lost?

what build is best for Xp. with SP3, is it worth installing the XP hotfix? should i just throw a Vista Install on?

.. little bit more of an update,

have reinstalled MP1final, scanned channels and they came up, then got the "Chennel not mapped to a card" message by the FTA channels, so i closed the TV-Server Config, done the XP hotfix, restarted, opened the TV-Server Config, deleted all channels, rescanned, could preview a channel and it said DVB-S next to the channel (though it was jurky but audio was fine), opened the MP-Config, set that up,, opened MP itself went to view a channel and ..nothing, closed MP, opened TV-Server Cofig and beside the FTA channels was "Channel not maped to a card"

is this a bug or some thing? yesterday i could preview all the channels i picked up without a probelem (i dont know what build i was using though) or am i doing something wrong?

Interesting problem. i have been beating my head against the wall as well recently as my frame-rate on all of the channels over the last couple of months has gone from 'no problems' to similar to what you are getting with the extremely low frame rates (1-2/sec - if that). I thought it was my computer show i recently moved the card to another and got the same problem. So my next step was to check any posts for similar problems before i sought support from Hauppauge. I have a HVR3000 as well and only recently starting having these problems. Maybe i should step back a couple of releases of MP and see if that i what is causing the problem. Although i am also having problems scanning channels in WinTV :(.

Anyway, with regards to your grief, from the images it would appear that you have all you channels on the wrong side of the window (i.e. all encrypted channels mapped and all the FTA not-mapped). On the TV Mapping windows move all the channels to the right hand side and see how you go with the previews. Once you have scanned the channels, you do not need to move them in the TV mappings section unless you have created them from scratch, or you are configuring the use of STB (Sky) and need to map an analogue channel to the DVB-S for getting the EPG from the satellite.

Also, when you scan for the channels what satellite list are you using? and what LNB settings? It maybe that these are just not right for your setup. At home i use a modified version of the '160 Optus D1' listing (with only the '22500' entries) and my LNB's are set to 10750 & 11300 with a switch freq of 0.

See how you go, as for me, i might go back to one of the earlier-earlier releases when my video was running fine.

p.s. My internet appears to be out at home so i cannot get those Sports Extra/Freeview settings to you at this stage, i will continue to check during the day for these.

After discussions in the NZ MP thread it's my opinion that TheAddict is suffering from signal quality problems, probably dish alignment issue.
GF74 are you sure you dish is ok? When ever I've experienced very erratic problems (with DVB-S and DVB-T) it's normally come down to a signal quality.

As far as i am aware the signal is good. Our Sky STB is not having the same problems. It maybe the cabling. I will hook up my PC straight to the dish and try my luck.

Yes it was a dodgy coax cable. One i had crimped (rather poorly) myself. I tried it without the splitter first (i.e. straight conx to dish) and it worked, so i put the splitter back in and added the new cable and all was good.
