Anyone know what is going on. Their stream is off air and i've heard that they are also no longer broadcasting on Sky's Digital service.

Just hoping this might be time for a switch to freeview.

I have never managed to get the streaming to work, not for a couple of weeks anyway.

Seems to be dead as the web streaming has been either down or off and on in the last two weeks I have tried (direct connecting too which reports it's dead) I just scanned the satellite and cannot find a trace of it except for that holding page.

The holding screen on sky looks very "let's get this up quick" so I have my fears, Hope someone on the know can shed some light.

http://www.spareroom.co.nz/2009/03/04/alt-tv-no-longer-on-sky/

Since 5pm, Sky’s channel 65 has displayed a message reading “Alt TV is No Longer Available on Sky”. The last song aired was The Doors’ “The End”.

sounds ominous

Is the stream still located at the address  "60.234.80.250" I cannot connect and have not been able to in the two weeks I have tried, nor cn I connect through the webpage.

I'll set the STB to scan those airwaves for ALT TV's return! (I love my dreambox)

My bad, It's working perfectly from my uber-reliable house connection.

could not get it to work at all at another destination and friends due to what seems a hijacked DNS somewhere in teh intarweb ("searchportal.information.com" is coming up in the traces instead though this site is blocked on my machine (eeePC) at hosts level hence never seeing it. hmmmm)

Considering some of the same people are involved in ALT TV that are involved in George FM and George was recently sold to MediaWorks, maybe they have also sold off ALT to other interests and this is part of a cost cutting/clean up (ie: moving to Freeview)?

would be great if they get it off sky and on to freeview. Then I might be able to watch it.

ALT OFF

Cult television channel Alt TV was pulled off Sky Television on Wednesday night with shares in the
company now held by its financiers at Easy Factors.

Sky issued a statement yesterday that the arrangements for Alt TV to appear on Sky were no longer viable.

It appears that suggestions the company would continue on Freeview or find a trade buyer have come to nothing. Its future was not clear but two of its former directors - Oliver Driver and Thane Kirby - have roles within MediaWorks.

Driver is the presenter for the TV3 breakfast show Sunrise while Kirby is programme director at MediaWorks' recently acquired George FM.

Other former shareholders are former Sky Television executive David Kennedy and Ricky Newby.

Maybe Mediaworks will buy ALT too and put it on one of their Freeview frequencies to honour their commitment to new channels.

I have it on good authority that alt-tv is now toast.

And the chris is no longer making coffee at unitec and has apparantly gone off to wellington so even if they did come back, it would be pretty lame.
