Hi all,

I've got a Samsung LCD with a built in Freeview HD tuner but when I tune it in, I'm only getting Maori, Chinese TV, Parliament and the HD Demo channel. If I get these should I be able to get them all?

What sort of aerial do you have? I'd be about 101% positive you have a dodgy aerial, cabling or connectors that are the cause of the problem.

Unfortunately that's the problem, I live in an apartment building in central Wellington so I have no idea what's there. I'll speak to the landlord and see what the dealio is.

Heaps of posts like this in the past.
It is likely your building has a centralised aerial system with amplifiers and filters to optimise the reception of analogue TV. Unfortunately it could also be killing the digital signal you need.
If you can see the TV transmitter from your apartment try connecting a indoor uhf aerial and point it at the transmitter.

I do have rabbit ears somewhere, I'll try those. Getting MySky HDi installed on Thursday so if it's no go, it's only a few days of no TV....

Not sure if rabbit-ears are right for a UHF signal but give it a go. If not try a DSE internal UHF aerial and if it works and doesn't look too hokey in your place then there's your solution, if it doesn't return it.
Just be aware even when you get MySkyHDi you don't get TV1 or TV2 in HD (or TV6 and TV7 and TVNZ Sport which Sky don't carry) so it maybe worth pursuing to get the best out of your tellie (a shame to have paid for a freeview tuner that you can't use).

Yes. I don't know if you need an amplified one but it certainly looks better than the others they have for sale. If nothing else, trialling it should prove to you that it's the apartment's fault not yours or your tellie's. Then maybe you can get the body corporate to do something about it as more residents are going to strike the same problem.
