I have a set top box designed to receive DVB T MPEG 2 broadcasts.  Is it any use at all in New Zealand given that DVB T in NZ is MPEG 4?  I am hoping someone might say i can take the DVB S signal and some how feed this into the box given that DVB S is MPEG 2.

no use whatsoever, other than as a doorstop.  DVB-S and DVB-T are two totally different creatures.
