TV3 Plus1 decided to show itself on Windows 7 Media Center last night, no add channel scans required.

EPG is the next task to sort out.

Windows 7 is turning out to quite surprising in that the media center side of things is pretty stable and aside from a few bugs it has been rock solid, watching, recording, and playing TV, DVD's, Music, and Videos.

cheers

It just appeared in your guide without you needing to do anything? Sounds strange. Are you sure you didn't have the formerly reserved channel scanned and showing already?

Showed up in my guide as well, without doing anything (Sony Built in Tuner).

Hi RockResearch,

Yes, a Freeview STB or built in tuner would have an update sent to it and update would be automagic.

Browned is using Windows 7 MC for his Freeview so I'm questioning how his EPG updated automatically because I don't understand how it could do so.

From my reading of the OP, he has the channel showing in his Live TV, but still needs to add it to the EPG:

"no add channel scans required"
"EPG is the next task to sort out"

Sorry gehenna, I'm a bit lost (not hard...).

What do you mean showing in his Live TV? As far as I'm aware, the Live TV option takes you to the last channel you were viewing.

Perhaps it is how I assumed, that he had the channel already scanned (one of the reserved channels) and when it switched over to TV3 + 1 he could then pick it up and watch it?

sorry for the confusion.

What I mean is I have not scanned for any new channels in Media Center for over 2 weeks. This to me initially suggested Windows, just like STB's picked up the new channel and added to the guide and channel 8 all on it's own.

After now thinking about it TV3 plus1 might have been picked up two weeks ago but it did not show in Media Center guide or as a channel option until they started broadcasting now and next guide data. To add to this, my last scan only picked up 15 channels in Hamilton...the reserved ones are not displayed in Media Center...but are probably picked up.

Now I need to sort out the 8 day EPG data for TV3 plus1...xmltvnz should have it added soon I hope.

cheers

Is anyone here moving the channel or leaving it in the original reserved spot?  I moved mine to just after TVNZ7.
