I'm looking at getting a full hd, 32 inch LCD and am not sure whether I'm best to get a Samsung LA32A550D  or Sony KDL32V4000.  Would appreciate some advise.  ThanksSmile

At only 32" you are probably wasting your money on full HD.  Unless you sit really close full HD isn't worth it for smaller than 50" TVs.  There are scientific charts showing what resolution your eyes can perceive at what distance for different sizes.  Although it is tempting to get full HD anyway :)

For the same or less money you could get a 42" 720P Plasma.   Plasma's have better blacks, colours & no motion blur.  Although due to the bright lights in the store it may not look like it, they look much better in normal lighting at home.  According the to experts resolution is 3rd or 4th on the list of what is perceived to be a good picture.

I bought my Samsung LA32R81BH 32" just after the same sized fullHD were released. Got at better price & had also read reports that the smaller screens made minimal difference to watching Blu-ray resolution.

Buy the HD ready & get a calibration disc to maximise the screen's PQ.

Further, I don't touch ANY Sony gear, anymore. I've had a gutsful of their heavy-handed approach at the forefront of RIAA & DRM restrictions. Just a personal standpoint. Besides, I have never had any issues it & does perfect 1:1 pixel mapping (on HDMI2 only), which is important if you view text on it. Some Sony units have had issues with it, especially, their lower models!

After all my Plasma talk I helped my Dad buy a Samsung A450 32" 720P LCD on the weekend. Was only about $880 at DSE.

They wanted a TV that fit the 32"wide gap in their TV cabinate so there wasn't much choice.  We were also looking at similarly spec'ed Sony but that was around $1150 & didn't look any better.  The Panasonic was too wide to fit their cabinate.  I'm also not that keen on the Sony brand anymore, although I love my PS3!

Thanks for info.. much appreciated.  Think I'll check out an HD ready set!  I'm limited by the size I can get as my cabinet that it will sit on is only 900mm wide.  Also will be quite close as is narrow room. I checked out the samsung on the link... looks good, but am keen to get one with freeview.  Thanks :)
