I find audio on my TV is improved by feeding the digital audio signal via an external DAC to my hifi system.

Unless my memory is failing this worked for all Freeview channels.

Recently I swapped around my Schiit DACs and now I don't get audio on TVNZ1, TVNZ2, 3, Brravo, Maori, Duke or SkyOpen.

But I get it on the other channels.

I use a roof mounted UHF aerial.

They're all AC3+AAC bar bravo (/edit and maori) which is only AAC

So unless you included that in error you've poss got AC3 settings funky.

Thanks guys but I don't understand what you are talking about. Is this something I have to change in my tv settings?

Without knowing your current connection tree or setup. Unknown.

However every channel has at minimum an AAC audio stream (2ch prologic) while the primary channels also have AC3 - Dolby Digital.5.1

That means if you configure any sort of surround settings along the lines.of PCM handling and so on. Results may vary if it doesn't match what's handling the stream after it leaves the TV expects.

Checked the sound settings on my tv.

Choice between Dolby D and HE-AAC

Setting was Dolby D, changed it to HE-AAC, fixed it.

Thanks.

If you have a soundbar or external audio system, you'll get better quality from dolby Digital. As it has the additional channels + IFE

But a matter of making sure everything is set to decode the DD down the chain.
