Got my new laptop over the weekend, and tried playing back the Freeview|HD samples over at Fossie's blog to see how capable the laptop really was at HD playback for Freeview|HD (as I'm interested in setting it up on my laptop)

The TV ONE and 3 samples play very smoothly in Windows Media Player (which was a surprise), but no audio seems to come out (bigger surprise). The TVNZ7 clip is green, also with no audio. Is the Freeview|HD channel sample is broken? Because that seems to be.

Codec issue? Missing audio links?

I tried the TV3 sample, and it certainly does have some audio - so perhaps you are on the right track thinking about missing codec(s).

You could try it yourself with a player that doesn't require external codecs like VLC edia Player or Media Player Classic Homecinema edition.

VLC - audio, really choppy playback
MPC-HC - no audio, smooth playback

Yeah they still do. And they're pretty large too! Adding to the bandwidth of Geekzone!
