I just bought this receiver from Trademe recently.  I was told by the seller (who brought it in from UK) that it worked in NZ. However, I have tried for days but failed to set it up.  After I ran a auto channel scan, it appeared on the screen that 3 frequencies and 20 channels were tracked but no picture showed on TV screen. I visited the seller who was adamant that he did receive freeview channel and that the reason I could not receive was that I re-formatted the HDD.

I have contacted Inverto Technical Support but was told that this product is designed for European Countries
only and that there is no firmware available for NZ. The technician also said that reformatting HDD would not
affecting the setup.

Can someone help please?

Thanks

Unless the product supports the H.264/MPEG4 video format and HE-AAC audio formats used in NZ it won't work. 99% of UK STB's won't work here as they only support the older MPEG2 video format.

I'd pick the seller flicking it off because it didn't work for him here in NZ

Found this link to the manufacturers site: http://www.inverto.tv/products/product.php?section=2&id=136
There is a link for the specs. Only seems to cope with MPEG1 and 2 so I dont think you will get it to work here - unless there is some other firmware for it out there - and the Inverto Tech support has proably confirmed that it wont work.

Thank you both Sbiddle & R

Appreciate that you took time to help out.

Yes, indeed the UK system only supports the MPEG 1 & 2 but I
have not given up yet.  I will try other solution.  If I have any
luck, I would keep u posted.

Thanks again

"another solution"? Interesting.....

It actually looks like quite a cool box complete with hard drive PVR.
Good luck Sunmoon.

There are some mpeg4 boxes in the UK from the BBC trial of HD on DVB - but no idea if they would work here or not.

It will be interesting to see if any of the new Freeview boxes work here. The requirement for Freeview certification was H.264 and AAC-LATM support but interestingly no requiement for MHEG5 even though it's effectively making the EIT EPG obsolete.

AU is still using different channel stepping and is mainly VHF so it'd be interesting to see if the boxes are hardcoded to the AU bandplans.
